Travel Program

Rotterdam’s travel program is one of the best in the Capital District.  We strive to field competitive teams in safe environments where children and young adults can enjoy and grow through the game of soccer. Rotterdam is one of the larger clubs in the Capital District and fields multiple boy/girl/co-ed teams at U8, U9, U10, U11, U12, U14, U15 and U18 levels. Rotterdam’s travel program is one of the best in the Capital District.  We strive to field competitive teams in safe environments where children and young adults can enjoy and grow through the game of soccer. Travel Soccer is for those players who interested in playing at a higher level than rec soccer.  The purpose of travel soccer is to further develop individual skill as well as teamwork through games against other area clubs. Player’s should possess a basic understanding of the game’s principles in which the coach’s prime objective is to develop them into a better soccer player. Coaches will require a greater level of practice time and sessions from their players in order to accomplish the above objective. Coaches and parents will decide if a team will enter any indoor/outdoor tournaments. Some teams may travel out of state for a tournament, but most stay within the Capital District.

Travel soccer is generally considered to be an 8-10 month (Nov-June) commitment for the child and parent. If your child has the skill and desire to learn, we want him or her.  We at RUSC think our program is the best – but don’t take our word for it, try it for yourself!

    Payment Plans

Payment plans are due on the following dates: 10/31/26, 11/30/26, and 2/15/27. If, for any reason, a payment is not received on time, a $25 late fee will be assessed due to processing and record-keeping requirements. If a different payment plan is required, an email must be sent to rotterdamsoccer@gmail.com and rotterdamregistrar@gmail.com.

    • Registration and all payments will require a credit card to be placed on file, and our system will automatically charge the card on these dates. Unfortunately, we cannot spend time tracking down payments when the system can process them automatically. A card must remain on file; otherwise, players are subject to removal.

    • Every year, we require volunteer hours for our Rotterdam Kick-off Classic Tournament. Without volunteers, this tournament cannot be successful. The opt-out fee of $100 will be deducted automatically on 4/30/27. If you volunteer in April, that final $100 payment will be removed from your account immediately following the tournament.

Please review the following expectations and costs for the upcoming travel season.

    • The registration fee includes indoor and outdoor practices, participation in our April tournament, outdoor spring league games/fees, and referee fees.

    • In addition to the registration fee, you should expect to purchase a uniform package separately from soccer.com, which includes two jerseys, one pair of shorts, and two pairs of socks. Players may reuse last year’s uniform if it is still available and the jersey numbers work for the team. Coaches will assign numbers and confirm when uniforms can be purchased.

    • Afrim’s offers three winter sessions. Indoor session fees are additional and are not included in the registration fee, as these costs have increased significantly in recent years. Coaches decide which sessions their teams will participate in, and players are expected to join their team for these sessions. Costs are divided among players, as travel soccer requires commitment, and teams are formed with the expectation that soccer is the priority.

    • Any additional tournaments are at the coach’s discretion, and those fees will be divided among the players attending.

Most practices are held at our indoor turf facility in Rotterdam, Pede Brothers, Sportime, and outdoor grass fields. We also utilize various hardwood gyms for futsal practices. Some older teams may also practice on school turf fields.

We cannot offer multiple-player discounts at the travel level, as costs have increased significantly in recent years for maintaining facilities and operating the program.

    College Showcases (U16 and U18)

    • Teams will most likely participate in a minimum of two college showcases, which may require travel and lodging. We are exploring local showcase options; however, the amount of travel will depend on the colleges players are interested in.

    • Regardless of whether your player plans to pursue college soccer, they are committing to a team where other players may have that goal and rely on their teammates for strong performances at these showcases.

    • A large number of athletes who move on to the collegiate level achieve success through our travel soccer program. RUSC has been very successful in networking and providing players with exposure to college coaches. Many of our past players have gone on to play in college and continue to stay involved with the club in various capacities.
